Rochelle Brophy’s background is rooted in dance, with professional experience in classical ballet and other forms of dance spanning six years before she transitioned into a career as an aerialist. She has performed extensively on the international stage, appearing in circus shows, cabarets, theatres, casinos, festivals, and other productions around the world.
She went on to establish a successful circus school in Gosford, Australia, which grew to more than 140 students, while also founding and directing her own production company, Brophy Productions.
Since relocating to Dunedin, New Zealand, 14 years ago, Rochelle has been the director of Brophy Aerials, a circus, aerial, and contortion school that now teaches around 110 students. Under her guidance, many of her students have gone on to build careers in the performing arts industry and continue to achieve notable success.
Rochelle Brophy has received multiple theatre awards for her production shows as well as her work as a costume designer and maker. For the past eight years, she has also served as the Performance Coordinator and Costume Coordinator of the Dunedin Midwinter Carnival.
